3/30/2010 Microsoft issued out-of-band security update
Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at 10:42AM Today, Microsoft issued out-of-band security update MS10-018 to address the vulnerability described in Microsoft Security Advisory 981374, affecting Internet Explorer 6 and Internet Explorer 7. Internet Explorer 8 is unaffected by the vulnerability in Security Advisory 981374, and is not vulnerable to any of the current attacks.

End of Life Announcement for Windows 2000 and XP Service Pack 2
Monday, February 8, 2010 at 11:23AM Microsoft support for the Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (SP2) and Windows 2000 operating systems will end July 13, 2010, and support for the Windows Vista Release to Manufacturing (RTM) operating system will end April 13, 2010. You should also advise customers against running an unsupported operating system. The Windows 7 RC will fully expire on June 1, 2010. PCs running the Windows 7 RC will continue shutting down every two hours and files won’t be saved during shutdown. In addition, the wallpaper will change to a solid black background with a persistent message on the desktop. You’ll also get periodic notifications that Windows isn’t genuine. That means the PC may no longer be able to obtain optional updates or downloads requiring genuine Windows validation.

As a consulting firm, it is something we specialize in and also something that is usually done as a part of every project we do. Depending on the environment and particular conditions, assessments can last from hours to weeks. They can be done both onsite and remotely, depending on the type and extent of the assessment. The other great thing about assessments is that we can customize them to particular customer/technology requirements and a lot of times we can make them part of the project without increasing the project length or budget. Many assessments are partially SKT funded or may be covered as part of your licensing agreement with Microsoft or other manufacturer.
